Add your outfit selfies with the Personal Lookbook camera or by selecting a photo from your iPhone's or iPad's gallery. You can also share photos to Personal Lookook from your iPhone's Photo's app or another photo editor.
After importing your photo, it will open in the Add a Look screen. If you want to be able to search your Lookbook, add details such as a Rating, Weather, and/or Fit (see the next section) and/or add it to your calendar. Or you can simply save your look and add details later—your look will be marked with a yellow dot to remind you.
Add additional photos if you want a closeup of accessories, a back view, alternate stylings, or a shot of you wearing your look in real life.
Categorize your looks any way you want with collections. You can make a collection of looks for recurring events in your life, like “Work” or “Girl’s Night Out,” a trip to Paris, designer looks, outfits that need tailoring, or anything else you want to look up fast. You’ll be able to view your collections quickly by tapping “Collections” under your photo grid.
Hint: To delete a collection, swipe it left.
If you add details to your looks, you’ll be able to search your closet on your phone and find something to wear anywhere. For example, you can set up your Lookbook to find:
To make your Lookbook searchable, simply add details and calendar dates to your looks in the Add a Look screen after you have imported your outfit selfie. (You can update a look anytime by double tapping the look.)
Note that you only need to add details in the sections want to be able to search. For example, if you only want to search your looks by Rating, there is no need to add details in the other sections (Weather, Fit, etc.).
Also, if you don't want to search by When Last Worn, see when a look is planned, or remember when and where you wore a look, there is no need to add it to the calendar.
Once you have added some looks, open “Find a Look” to search your looks by Rating, Collection, Weather, Fit, Attire, When Last Worn, and just about anything else with keywords. (See the next section.)
You can set up your Personal Lookbook to search your looks by designer, color, trend, style, a favorite clothing item, and just about anything else with keywords. Just add your searchable keywords in the Items or Notes/Tags sections when adding or updating a look.
If you want to be able to find all of your looks by your favorite designer, such as Chloé, include “Chloé” in the Items section whenever you add a look that includes an item by this designer (e.g., “Chloé yellow floral sheath dress”). Then, when you search by “Chloé” in the keyword field of “Find a Look,” all of your looks that include Chloé items will show in your results.
Or, if you want to be able to find everything that goes with a certain item of clothing, such as your purple paisley pencil skirt, whenever you add a look that includes your purple paisley pencil skirt, add “purple paisley pencil skirt” to your Items list.
You can also leave keywords in Notes/Tags or in your calendar Wear Notes to keep track of where you wore a look and who saw you in it. Learn how...
If a look needs new shoes or a better sweater, type the word “shop” in its Notes/Tags field. Then, when you’re out shopping, type “shop” in “Find a Look” to see all of your looks that need new items.
Get out the door faster, look more put-together, and spend more vacation time vacationing instead of figuring out what to wear.
If you have a favorite or new look that you know you’ll want to wear soon, but aren’t exactly sure when, add it to your Runway collection by checking the Runway checkbox when adding or updating a look. You’ll be able to view your Runway looks anytime by opening “Find a Look” and checking “On the Runway.”
Once you have past dates for a look in your calendar, you can 1) tap the look, then 2) tap “Last Worn” in the bottom left of your Closeup screen to see all the dates you have worn this look. If you have added Wear Notes, you will also see where you wore it, who saw you in it, and any other details you have added. (See next section, below, to learn more.)
If you want to see a look’s past and planned dates, just 1) tap & hold a look, 2) tap “Add to Calendar,” then 3) tap the Calendar-List button at the bottom of your calendar.
You can also view the past & planned dates for all of your looks: Tap the calendar button under your photo grid, then tap the Calendar-List button at the bottom.
Whenever you add a look to your calendar, add the names of the people who saw you in that date's Wear Notes. Then you’ll be able to type a person’s name in “Find a Look” to see all the looks you have worn around that person.
For example, whenever you wear an outfit with Justin, add it to the calendar and include “Justin” in that day’s Wear Notes. Then open “Find a Look” and type “Justin” in the keyword search field. All of the looks you have worn around Justin will show in your results.
You can also use Wear Notes to track where you wore your looks.
Use the Calendar if you want to plan your trip day-by-day; or you can create a custom collection for your trip if you just want to see all of your looks for your trip in one place. If you are going to Tokyo, for example, create a collection named “Tokyo Trip,” then add looks to your new “Tokyo Trip” collection. Here’s how:
Then, when you’re packing, just tap, “Collections” and select “Tokyo Trip” to see all of your outfits to pack. Also, when you’re relaxing in a Harajuku cat cafe, you can filter your looks further with “Find a Look” to see all of your outfit options for dinner.
You can also long-press any photo on your photo grid to quickly add it to a collection.
The best way to take pictures of yourself in your outfits is with an phone tripod and a remote shutter or an extra long selfie stick. If you need better lighting, a light wand can also be helpful.
Alternatively, you can:
Hint: You don’t need to be wearing a look to save it. Just lay your look out on your bed, a table, or the floor.
Give all your photos the same backgrounds and filters to make them look great together on your photo grid. We’d love to see what you do—send a screenshot to info@personallookbook.com.
